IT & Network Systems Administrator

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan

 

Dynamo Electric is seeking an IT & Network Systems Administrator to ensure the IT infrastructure is reliable, secure, cost effective, and meets our constantly growing needs.  You will provide computer and network maintenance for all IT related systems and support for their users.  This position maintains, analyzes, troubleshoots, and repairs computer systems, hardware and computer peripherals. Documents, maintains, upgrades or replaces hardware and software systems. Maintains user account information including rights, security and systems groups.
 
This position reports directly to the Director of Corporate Services and administers and maintains the company’s Microsoft Windows network, including Office 365 Environment, SQL Server, Windows Terminal Services and Vista ERP.
 

Some of your responsibilities may include:

  • Maintain core infrastructure such as server(s), internet/intranet cabling and switching devices. Including making provision for new employees, software updates, data backup, UPS testing, minimizing security risks and any other tasks that contribute to protecting our critical IT equipment and invaluable data.
  • Ensure all employees are equipped with the hardware and software resources they need to effectively serve our customers.
  • Network administration such as technical support, adding new users, development of group polices, permissions and re-enforcement, VPN maintenance.
  • Provide our management team with technical advice on how to improve our operations, and better equip employees to serve our customers.
  • Constantly strive to improve our cost effectiveness, up time, and reduce the time demanded for maintenance and support.
  • Manage and comply with software license requirements.
  • Manage expenses such as ISP(s), equipment vendors, contract developers, back up, and in-house time spent on IT
  • Monitor network performance.
  • Trouble-shoot computer, network, telephone and software problems.
  • Install new hardware and software as required.
  • Oversee computer & software purchase, licensing, maintenance, and documentation tracking.
  • Assess security risks to network data, software and hardware.
  • Develop policies, procedures and contingency plans to eliminate possible security risks
  • Develop disaster recovery strategies to minimize downtime.
  • Ensure data back-ups are happening and the right information is backed up effectively and testes regularly to ensure the integrity of the data.
  • Maintenance of all office equipment such as printers, copiers, etc.
  • Occasional web page updates.
  • Maintain comprehensive network diagram, and records of all hardware, maintenance, and licenses.
  • Advise company management on IT strategies and policies and service.
  • Carry out “in-house” developments or manage the procurement of solutions by others.
  • Solicit and evaluate vendor proposals to meet our needs based on requirements conveyed by management
  • Develop and maintain programs, databases, and other tools to assist our engineering and technical services teams.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or degree from a post-secondary educational institute (such as: B.Sc. Comp. Sci., Computer Systems Technology, Computer Networking Technician) which allows for professional affiliations.  Equivalent experience with professional affiliation is also acceptable.
  • At least 5-7 years’ experience and affiliated with a professional organization (CCNA, MCP, MCSE, MCSA, ISP, A+, A.Sc.T.)
  • Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience working in an information technology and network system role.
  • Knowledgeable and experience working with server and network infrastructures.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft operating systems and Office applications.
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Effective/proven communication skills.
  • Experience working in a team-orientated, collaborative environment.
  • Self-motivated, able to work with little direction and supervision
  • Knowledgeable with Web design and maintenance.
  • Must have the ability to liaise and communicate with staff at all levels of the company.
  • Able to work flexibly, including some travel and overtime
  • Ability to make judgements, identify problems and take the appropriate course of action
  • Ability to manage pressure and conflicting demands and to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Programming skills (e.g. SQL, Java, C#, C++) would be an asset.

Senior Electrical Services Specialist

Winnipeg, Manitoba

 

Dynamo Electric is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer, Senior Electrical Technologist, or Journeyperson Electrician to take a lead role in developing our Manitoba operations.

As a leader in providing design-build projects, maintenance services and technical solutions for industrial and utility clients in Western Canada, our goal is to build strong working relationships with key clients through providing a high level of customer service.  This unique opportunity is perfect for the individual driven to make a difference and wanting to shape the future and goals of a new service team.  It is expected that this leadership position will expand quickly to include office management and supervision of junior technical staff.

Joining our team will mean taking a visible role with new and existing clients in Manitoba.  You will also be expected to help develop and support the engineering and electrical construction elements of our organization.  This will involve quoting, in-house design and study functions, as well as field-orientated project construction, commissioning, preventative maintenance and testing assignments.

  • New business development.

  • Design, inspect, commission, test, maintain and repair electrical power and control systems; generators, transformers, breakers, protection relays and other equipment.

  • Point of contact for customers.

  • Scheduling manpower and equipment for multiple projects.

  • Writing quotes, proposals and technical reports related to studies or service calls.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum five (5) years’ applicable work experience and affiliation (or eligibility) with a professional organization (A.Sc.T., P. Eng., or equivalent).

  • Journeyperson Canadian Inter-provincial Red Seal certification.

  • Specialized expertise of a particular area in your field of practice.

  • Time management and organizational skills to balance field and office work commitments.

  • Willing to travel and work extensive hours to maintain strict timelines.

  • Solid understanding of the business and customer environment.

  • Physically fit to lift and move heavy items up to 50 lbs.

Electrical Estimator

Regina, Saskatchewan

 

Our Regina office requires the services of an intermediate to senior level project estimator to support our Electrical Services Department.  This position will report to the Director of Electrical Services and indirectly to the Director of Business Development.  Often working alongside our Engineering, Manufacturing and Technical Service teams, you will be responsible for coordinating and executing accurate estimates on multiple projects.  Preference will be given to persons with experience in industrial and/or high voltage substation settings.


Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and prepare accurate cost estimates for electrical construction projects; analyze drawings, specifications and bid documentation, data collection, quantity takeoffs, possible site trips, formulating questions and participating in multi-discipline scope meetings.

  • Maintain accurate files and backup data to support estimates.

  • Prepare handover packages to communicate estimate details, assumptions, exceptions and expectations to those executing the work.

  • Maintain and grow client relationships.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree, diploma in the related field or journeyman red seal ticket.

  • At least 5 years’ experience in project coordination and estimating.

  • Must possess strong computer and MS Office skills; Word, Excel, MS Project

  • Experience with Accubid BidWinner or similar software.

  • You will need to demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and work under tight time constraints.

  • Current valid Driver’s Licence & Driver’s Abstract required.

Project Manager

Saskatoon or Regina, Saskatchewan

 

Our Construction and Engineering departments have project management opportunities in both of our Saskatoon and Regina offices.  These are leadership positions that report directly to department managers and will be responsible for planning, coordinating, overseeing construction and contract details on multiple client projects.  We offer competitive wages and an extensive benefits package.  Preference will be given to persons with experience in industrial, high voltage substation or utility areas.
 

Responsibilities:

  • Planning and execution of projects including; scheduling manpower and equipment, purchasing materials, managing subcontractors and equipment rentals, scope control and change order management.

  • Ensure safe and efficient operations while meeting customer schedules and requirements.

  • As a leader you will supervise and develop employees on your projects to ensure that department goals and customer requirements are met.

  • Communication and coordination of work externally with client contacts and internally with various operating and support departments.

  • Maintain grow customer relationships by providing exceptional service.

  • Participate in the estimating and tendering process.

Qualifications:

  • PPMP designation or some other form of project management training.

  • At least 5 + years’ experience as an electrical Journeyman Job Lead, Technologist or Engineer working on and managing projects in an industrial environment.

  • Experience with high voltage electrical equipment and substation construction is an asset.

  • Must possess strong leadership, communication, and team building skills. 

  • You possess strong organizational skills, computer skills and have the ability to plan and execute project work safely, efficiently and possibly under tight time constraints.
