CAD Designer

Regina, Saskatchewan

Dynamo Electric is a design-build and maintenance-oriented company that specializes in power and control solutions for industrial and utility clients.  Within this niche market we can provide a broad scope of services which allow us to be a complete technical solution provider for our clients.

Our Regina office requires an experienced CAD operator to provide support for the engineering consulting aspects of our business. By joining our engineering team, you will be exposed to the CAD aspects of both in-house electrical design functions as well as field-orientated installation assignments. 

Job Description:
  • The primary purpose of this position is to provide computer-based design and drafting services to the three core technical groups in the organization; engineering, technical services, and electrical installation/construction projects.
  • As the central or common CAD person for these multiple groups you will monitor, manage, maintain consistency and continuously improve the organization’s CAD standards and drawing management systems across all drawings and projects.
  • You will be exposed to the CAD aspects of both in-house electrical design functions as well as field-orientated installation assignments.
Qualifications:
  • Degree/diploma in CAD/CAM (or equivalent), or Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Technology with CAD design experience.
  • Experience specifically with electrical design and drawings would be an advantage.
  • Experience & knowledge in IT systems and support.
  • You possess strong organizational skills and have the ability to work under tight time constraints, adapt to change, work alone, as well as flourish in a team environment.

Project Manager 

Regina, Saskatchewan

Dynamo Electric is one of Western Canada's fastest growing engineering, design-build construction, testing and electrical maintenance service companies and is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee multiple client projects within the Engineering and Construction service aspect of our business.
 
As a leader in providing design-build projects, maintenance services and technical solutions for industrial and utility clients in Western Canada, our goal is to build strong working relationships with key clients through providing a high level of client service.  

Joining our team will mean taking a visible role with new and existing clients.  This is a leadership position that reports directly to department managers and will be responsible for planning, coordinating, overseeing construction and contract details on multiple client projects. Preference will be given to persons with experience in industrial facilities, high voltage substations or electric utilities.

Responsibilities:
  • Plan, organize, evaluate, and monitor the progress of projects throughout their cycle.
  • Manage contract scope and change orders with the client. 
  • Plan and prepare construction schedules and milestones to meet established schedules.
  • Manage and monitor agreements with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Schedule manpower and equipment for the projects.
  • Develop and implement quality control programs.
  • Prepare progress reports and issue progress schedules to clients.
  • Direct and monitor closely all project purchases and costs.
  • Hire and supervise the activities of staff and subcontractors on the projects.
  • Ensure safe and efficient operations while meeting client schedules and requirements.
  • Communication and coordination of work externally with client contacts and internally with various operating and supporting departments.
  • Maintain and grow client relationships by providing exceptional service.
  • Participate in the estimating and tendering process.
Qualifications:
  • PMP designation or other formal project management training.
  • At least 5 years’ experience as an electrical Journeyman Job Lead, Technologist or Engineer.
  • Preference will be given to persons with experience managing projects in industrial facilities, high voltage substations or electric utilities.
  • Experience with high voltage electrical equipment and substation construction is an asset.
  • Must possess strong leadership, communication, and team building skills.
  • You possess strong organizational skills, computer skills and have the ability to plan and execute project work safely, efficiently and possibly under tight time constraints.

Electrical Engineering Technologist

Regina, Saskatchewan

One of Western Canada's fastest growing engineering, construction and technical service companies is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineering Technologist or Electrical Engineer to provide technical support for the field service and engineering aspects of our business.

As a leader in providing design-build projects, maintenance services and technical solutions for industrial and utility clients in Western Canada, our goal is to build strong working relationships with key clients through providing a high level of customer service.  

Joining our technical team will mean taking a visible role with new and existing clients.  You will also support the engineering and electrical construction elements of our organization.  This may involve, in-house design and study functions, as well as field-orientated project construction, commissioning, preventative maintenance and testing assignments.

Some of your responsibilities may include:
  • Design, inspect, commission, test, maintain and repair electrical power and control systems; generators, transformers, breakers, protection relays and other equipment.
  • Read technical electrical, mechanical and instrumentation drawings.
  • Point of contact for customers and maintain and develop customer service relationships.
  • Provide technical services and support to internal/external customers.
  • Operations and reliability engineering support for a variety of industrial and utility clients.
  • Writing proposals and technical reports related to studies or service calls.
  • Oversee and manage small projects.
Qualifications:
  • Diploma or degree from a post-secondary education institute in a technical field (electrical or mechanical related) which allows for professional affiliations.
  • Minimum five (5) to ten (10) years’ applicable work experience and affiliation (or eligibility) with a professional organization (A.Sc.T., P. Eng., or equivalent).
  • Specialized expertise of a particular area in your field of practice.
  • Time management and organizational skills to balance field and office work commitments.
  • Willing to travel and work extensive hours to maintain strict timelines.
  • Solid understanding of the business and customer environment.
  • Physically fit to lift and move heavy items up to 50 lbs.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Physical fitness test and drug and alcohol test will be required.

Engineer-in-Training or Electrical Engineering Technologist

Our Regina office requires a full-time Electrical Engineer-in-Training or Electrical Engineering Technologist to provide support for the engineering consulting and field service aspects of our business.  By joining our technical team, you will be exposed to both-in-house design/study functions as well as field-orientated project construction, commissioning and testing assignments.

 

Some of your responsibilities may include:

  • Power system studies; short circuit, coordination, power flow, arc flash, etc. 

  • Plant engineering and reliability engineering support for a variety of industrial and utility clients.

  • Application, design, configuration and commissioning of process control systems distribution and process automation equipment.

  • Writing technical reports related to studies or service calls.

  • Communication point of contact for customers.

  • Provide technical services and support to internal/external customers.

Qualifications:

  • Completed Post-Secondary education in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.

  • Knowledge of electrical protection, industrial process control and automation applications.

  • Proven problem solving and analytical skills.

  • Possess strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Works effectively under time constraints, adapts to change, able to work alone, as well as enjoys participating in a team environment.
